ABOUT

 

Marta Torres, the founder of the Flavor Lab, was born in Lourinhã, Portugal. In a household of 10, Marta started cooking at an early age. Her culinary skills grew to such an extent that at the age of 12 she was awarded with her very first cook book “O meu livro de COZINHA,” a children’s cookbook with advanced techniques. Nowadays, this book is proudly exhibited among Marta’s grand collection of over 300 technique and cookbooks in her Tokyo home.

  

       

    

 

         

          

Although Marta is a teacher of various specialty courses, she continues to perfect her art by taking regular professional classes, in Japan and overseas, as well as experimenting in her very own ‘Flavor Lab.’

Marta is an expert in gourmet techniques and specialty bread baking. She received training at the world renown Culinary Institute of  America as well as from highly qualified culinary professionals in Japan.  

     

Marta also attributes her level of expertise and talent to the constant study and practice of her art throughout the years. For Marta, perfecting her art is a priority.  She has also lived in many different countries which has allowed her to learn and adopt various local and cultural techniques -from places ranging from Brazil to China- which she adapts and combines to make her own unique creations.

The Flavor Lab is indeed Marta’s laboratory where she combines the freshest, highest quality ingredients to produce delectable and original creations. Marta’s attention to detail and perfection make her menus artistic masterpieces.
